Building/structure dates:
1840 initial construction
Significance: An example of the later 19th century remodeling of a mid-19th century log structure. Chimneys, stairs, doors, and windows were repositioned, and the exterior was clapboarded. The original bare whitewashed interior was covered with lath and plaster, and molded door and window frames were installed. The result was a renewed life for the structure and a change to configuration and finish details to suit changing tastes and ways of living.
