Building/structure dates: 1878
Significance: The Methodist resort of Island Heights was founded in the late 19th century during a period of religious revival advocating family values and temperance. John Wanamaker of the Wanamaker store-chain, brought further notoriety to Island Heights in the 1900s when he established a summer camp for members of his commercial institute.
