Significance: By 1899, the Botany Worsted Mills enjoyed a position as the first integrated woolen processing plant in the United States. It quickly became the largest operation of its kind in the world. It was instrumental to attracting other worsted manufacturers to Passaic and it established the city as a major industrial center.
