Significance: The duplex is one of few buildings in St. Elmo dating the final boom after 198. Architecturally, the use of corner posts, rather than true notching, is typical of log buildings erected after 1900 the building is obviously designed purely for rental to miners, with its duplex division. Only two duplexes survive in the former camp.
