Significance: The building is a largely intact example of early ammunition magazine design and contributes to an understanding of the arsenal's early manufacturing and storage activities. It is the oldest structure at the arsenal and provided the model for later ammunition magazine construction at Watervliet and at Benecia Arsenal in California.
